Exchange program for regional integration in East Asia and Europe (EPRIE) 2016

Exchange Program for Regional Integration in East Asia and Europe (EPRIE) 2016 on ‘Asylum, migration, and integration – similar challenges, different patterns’. EPRIE 2016 will be held from June 24 to July 6 in Europe (Poland, Germany, France)

Against the backdrop of the current refugee crisis in Europe, the topic of this year’s EPRIE focuses on forced migration, integration, and their effect on nation states.  What are the differences and similarities between Europe and East Asia? What impact does migration have on nation states? What factors play a significant role in the creation of current migration policies? What does integration mean, and how can it be achieved? Experts in science, politics, and civil society will introduce their perspectives and discuss them with the participants.

Eligible candidates should be advanced graduate students, early postdoctoral researchers, or young professionals who are especially interested in this topic. Candidates should be of French, German, Polish, Chinese, Japanese or Korean nationality and be between 25 and 35 years old. All applicants are expected to speak English fluently because the program will be conducted in English.

A committee will select 20 participants from the applications received. They will take into account the background, motivation, and English proficiency of the candidates.

Selected applicants are invited to join for a unique intercultural experience at this year’s summer school. In addition to gaining specialized knowledge through comprehensive content, participants will develop intercultural competencies. Through intensive dialogue in international groups, the seminar will encourage participants to build an enduring network that encourages long-lasting cooperation.

All basic expenses during the program such as accommodation, transfers, and meals will be covered. However, participants are expected to pay their own journey from their home country to the conference location in Krzyzowa (Poland) and back from Strasbourg (France). Overseas candidates can apply for financial support.
